PROGRAM SEMINAR PERKESO BERSAMA PEMIMPIN MASYARAKAT 2013

Hulu Rajang MP; Wilson Ugak Kumbong lauded the efforts being made by SOCSO Kapit Branch for putting up a Seminar  “PROGRAM SEMINAR PERKESO BERSAMA PEMIMPIN MASYARAKAT 2013” at Rumah Gindal, Pulau Sibau, Sungai Mujong Kapit.

In his welcoming address, the Manager of Perkeso Kapit; Mr Slyvester highlighted the roles and importance of Perkeso. To many of us, Perkeso acts like an Insurance company, but in reality it plays bigger and more important roles to safeguard the welfares of the workers in times of difficulties and needs. From their survey it was found that majority of the workers were not aware of their rights and privileges provided by Perkeso and it is the objective of this seminar to expose and guide them of their rights should anything happen in their work place.

Ugak was very pleased with the seminar as it gives the majority of his constituencies who are involved in the logging sector which came along with major work hazards and even death with proper knowledge and better understanding of the roles and functions of Perkeso. Among other agencies who also participated in the seminars were NIOSH agency represented by speaker Mr Dominic Charles from Sibu, NREB represented by Mr Gabriel Kalai, Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Kapit represented by Mr Richard Sandak and Agro Bank kapit represented by Mr Anggas Salang.

In his role as their member of Parliament for P.216 Hulu Rajang, YB Ugak had tried his very best to voice out the grievances and hardships faced by Hulu Rajang’s constituencies as proven in his latest debate speech recently in the current parliament sitting. As a man of word, Ugak had voiced out the poor conditions of schools in the rural area that needs urgent attention and more funds. He also voiced out the needs for more roads such as the proposed road from Rh Juntan to Rh Bengau (13 km), Nanga Mujong to Nanga Gaat (30 km), Nanga Mujong to Nanga Tiau (60km), Belaga Town to Merit which will be undertaken by Jiwa Murni under Blue Ocean government strategy, and many more access roads to connect the majority of the long houses in Hulu Rajang.

On health, Ugak also voiced out the dire needs to upgrade the hospital facilities in terms of beds, equipments and man power to meet the ever increasing demand for better health care for Kapit and Belaga Hospital. “The shortages of doctors and specialists were the most critical issue for Kapit and Belaga hospitals”, said Ugak and he demanded and hope that the Health Ministry will give this request their top priority for the betterment of Kapit and Hulu Rajang. Other issues being brought up by Ugak includes water treatment plant for Sg Asap, sports facilities for both Kapit and Belaga town, poor internet connectivity, poor telecommunication coverage, more subsidies for rural based agriculture, more amenities infrastructures for the rural communities and  more development projects under the Barisan Nasional government under the stewardship of YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Ugak also advised the people to appreciate what we have today as we are more fortunate than many other countries in the world who could not afford to provide subsidies as what we are enjoying now. So please treasure what we have and appreciate what the Barisan Nasional Government has done to us.
