YB Datuk Alex and YB
Wilson visited the delayed dormitories construction at SK Punan Bah over the
weekend. On hand to welcome both YBs were the members of the school PIBG and
the staffs of SK Punan Bah.
The construction of
the hostel was to replace the old hostel that collapsed a few years back. It
was supposed to be completed earlier on, but something went wrong with the
contractor and thus passed all the inconvenience and hardship to the boarders.
This had caused hardship and dissatisfaction amongst the parents.
YB Wilson have
highlighted this problem (delayed in completion of the hostel) in Parliament
and today YB Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi; the Asst Minister KKLW witnessed for
himself the problem faced by the boarders of SK Punan Bah and he demanded that
the contractor to finish up their job quickly or face the music. What irked YB Wilson was the promise made by
the contractor to complete the project on time and here today it remain
incomplete and outstanding. Ugak suggested Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia
(KPM) to take stern action against the contractor who had failed to complete
the project on time and blacklisted them from participating in future projects.
YB Datuk Alexander
agreed with YB Wilson suggestion, and would bring up the matter in the cabinet
meeting and would demand a prompt solution to the issue. Datuk Alex was so
touched to see the present condition that 30 students were cramped in one
classroom that was turned into temporary dormitories by the school authorities.
Datuk Alex also visited the sites of the proposed communication tower for Punan
Bah. During the dialogue with the residents of Punan Bah, a few matters arises;
amongst them were clean water supply, 24 hours electricity and access road from
Belaga town to Kapit. Present was Kapit District Officer; Mr Elvis Didit.
