Kapit:While in
Kapit, Wilson Ugak Kumbong had a fruitful discussion with the Majlis Guru Besar
Kapit (MGB Kapit). He explained in detail the government policy in helping the
rural constituency through various aids and projects to uplift the standard of
living so as to minimise the gap of development in rural area like Hulu Rajang
comparing to the urban area.
At a different function later that night, he attended
a Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat organised by PRS Youth Baleh at Rumah Taing,
Ng Bena, Sungai Sut, Baleh Kapit. A total of 14 tuai rumahs attended the
function and they all voiced their fullest support for Ugak to be their Member
of Parliament replacing incumbent; YB Datuk Billy Abit Joo who has served as
their MP for over 20 years. In his speech, Ugak said that the PRU is
approaching near and thus call on all the people to render their fullest
undivided support to the BN candidate in Hulu Rajang to enjoy continuous
developments. He stressed that the policy of 1 Malaysia; being championed by
YAB Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak has brought tremendous achievements. He called
for the rakyat of Sarawak to give the mandate to Barisan Nasional in the coming
PRU-13 as it has shown in the PRN; held last year. This is important so that
the government can continue to implement all the projects that have been
planned for the benefit of all.
Meanwhile, Wilson Nyabong Ijang, a Political Secretary
to YAB Chief Minister in his speech highlighted the history of all the MPs for
Hulu Rajang since Independent starting from Tun Jugah’s time to the present MP;
YB Datuk Billy Abit Joo. He clearly stated that for 20 over years, the people
of Baleh has rendered their support to YB Datuk Billy, and as such, he would
suggest and encourage that he(Datuk Billy) will support any candidate being picked by the party
(PRS/BN) to replace him. As a senior and an experienced politician, Datuk Billy
should put the party’s interest above any other agenda and his own personal
interest. By doing so, he not only shows his respect and loyalty to the leaders,
but it shows his maturity in politics. Please stop the act of confusing the
people of Baleh and Belaga by telling them that he (Datuk Billy) still stand a
chance to be re-nominated. As far as I am aware, his name (Datuk Billy) is not
in the list of candidates being put forward by Party President for
consideration. “Come, sit down with Party President and Ugak to iron out things
and I am ever confident that Hulu Rajang will remain a stronghold of Barisan
Nasional” said Nyabong.
