KAPIT:14-9-2012. In response to a statement by Datuk Billy on the Star yesterday (13-9-2012);
PRS Youth Chief Bakat anak Gira questioned Datuk Billy`s statement made by the
later that his movement on the ground has no ulterior motives – just to
strengthen BN is pure lies.
As reported, he commented that the move by several
headmen to be politically motivated was quashed aside by Bakat. He said that the headmen were asked to attend
his functions just to collect their MRP grants as what was reported previously
and NOT to show their support for him to be re-nominated in Hulu Rajang. Please
highlight this, said Bakat to the Borneo Post when met yesterday. Bakat further stated that he was still at his
young age that he knew Billy. It was us (referring to PRS Baleh machinery
headed by Wilson Ugak Kumbong )who have been campaigning for Billy all the
while and I know how strong the people`s support him in the previous elections.
Back in 2004, Billy decided to give up politics and
strongly recommended Wilson Ugak Kumbong to replace him. At that time I started
working at the Party service centre and thus I knew all the things that
happened then. At the eleventh hour Billy pleaded with the Party that 2004 will
be his last term and come 2008 he will hand over the baton to Wilson Ugak. His
request was granted and he won. Right after the election in 2004 till 2007
Billy seldom visit his Baleh constituents and the people of Baleh put up all
the grumbles and dissatisfactions on Billy to me as I was working at the Party
Service Centre.
Come 2008, he played his old trick by pleading for
another term and he again promised he will eventually hand over the P216 Hulu
Rajang seat to Wilson Ugak Kumbong who at that point of time was demanding him
(Billy) to fulfil his promise. Again Billy did not keep his promises.
During a dialogue session at the Election Station at
Rumah Jampong, Billy again promised that this (2008) will be his last term and
called for all the people in Baleh to support him and he eventually won with a
majority of 2,164 of which the 1,600+ were from Baleh and the remaining 500+
from Belaga. During the 2008 campaign period, we (PRS Baleh election machinery
headed by Wilson Ugak) have to plead and convince people that they should throw
their support to Billy who represent BN and not the opposition as the people of
Baleh at that point of time became fed up with Billy for his non -commitment of
paying regular visits to his constituents and his empty unfulfilled promises.
My challenge to Datuk Billy now is why after supporting
him to victory in 2008, he never ever came to us (PRS Baleh machinery team) and
say Thank you for all the support that we rendered him all over the years and
instead he distanced himself from us and put up his own service centre. Why now
and not 20 over years ago? and to listen to the party decision that his name is
not being sent for re-nomination and to put a full stop of him telling people that
he still stand a chance of being re-nominated and thus cause confusions among
the people of Hulu Rajang.
On another report that stated that a crowd of 400 people
with 32 tuai rumah attended a gathering at Rumah Sigan on the 8-9-2012 that seem
to portrays that Billy still command a huge support from Baleh community is a
lie. Actually, there was a function organised by Kapit Hospital Visitors` Board
headed by Edward Mangah at Rumah Sigan and Billy was invited for the closing ceremony only. It was not his function and the
huge turnout was merely people from nearby longhouses who want to have their
health screening done by staff of Kapit Hospital, not as a show of support as
reported. And again another thing that caught my attention is the number “32”.
It was reported that 32 tuai rumahs attended the function at Rumah Sigan and
Rumah Kanyan Nanga Sepasir. Is it coincident or Billy`s favourite number? We
have first-hand information that the numbers were made up numbers by Billy`s
son; Emang Yu as he is the person behind the scene who has all the while been giving
misleading information to the press who we came to know seldom cover Billy`s
rural functions. Example of misleading information on BP 14-9-2012 was..Pemanca
David Dian and PRS Youth Exco cum PRS Belaga Youth Chief Darryl Herbert…Darryl
is the Secretary of PRS Baleh and not as reported.
